Instant win competitions?

So I've started doing the daily mags, was wondering whether the instant win competitions or the prize draw ones were best to do. Any one have any advice? e.g. if the instant win ones are actually legit is it best to pick your own numbers or use the lucky dip button etc.

I rarely ever bother with the instant wins, I just don't see the point as I think I've only heard of one person ever winning them. Whereas there is always at least two or three people posting in IWIWIW every week that they've won on the mag daily prize draws. I have won twice on them but lots of people have had loads of wins.
Sometimes if I've got leftover entries after the prize draws and I'm bored, I might use them up with a few goes on the instants but normally I'm pushed for time so don't bother.
