My bank would give me an overdraft immediately.

Same here , (although I already have approved overdraft limits )

If you give the long story to your local credit union they might be able to lend you the money at a very reasonable rate (12-30%) with no early repayment charges. If they won't on this occasion, then take some of that £5000 or just a couple of pounds a week and save with your local credit union, so they will lend to you the next time your in a spot of bother.

People aren't trying to be objectionable, but pay day lenders charge ridiculously high interest rates and it's very easy for debts to spiral out of control. If no bank or credit card company will lend to you, then there's probably a good reason and you're better off looking who can help you get back on your feet than look for a quick win.

I think most pay day lenders are 'reputable' as in they will keep to their terms and conditions and use legitimate means to try and recoup their loses if you do not repay the loan as agreed. But their terms and conditions are very aggressive and it's easy for things to get out of control. I think most of them will give you money quickly, I'm sure a quick google will find several or try wandering along the high street. Cash Converters etc will give you a quick loan secured against some goods. But this is all a dangerous route to go down and if you're already heading down this road, you need to find help to face up to your situation, not keep looking for alternative means of getting more money. Go and see the CAB and good luck.

There's quite a few tragic folks around at the moment, desperate for a few hundred quid.
