£5 gifts for teenage boys.

  • I don't understand the fixation with Lynx and think it's a bit odd buying someone deodorant for Christmas, unless you know things are incredibly tight financially. DD1 (13) said she'd assume someone thought she had a body odour issue if she was given deodarant as a gift which would upset her. Also, although this is personal, we don't use aerosols in our family, which I think is fairly common.

I like the idea of the touch screen friendly gloves. Primark have them for £1-2, plus they have cool hats and other great value gifts.

    Thank you all.
I love the idea of touch screen gloves and am going to add that to my list for my 15 year old sisters stocking, but neither of these boys currently have touch screens.

I think I am going to go with a couple of USB sticks to go with tubes of Rolos I already have.
GC: £40 a week. Sticking to my budget, but never remembering to post in the relevant thread.
Probably buying toiletries that I don't need, as I can't resist a "bargain."

WE don't really use aerosol sprays in our house, unless unavoidable, which it is with deodorant, so am with you on that. My mum has been known to buy me roll-on, not because she thinks I am smelly but she likes to buy us useful things, sometimes as part of a present, more often just as a wee gift. We live on an island and she sometimes sends us things we cannot get.
As for teenage boys and their cough inducing lynx addictions :eek::eek:. Still I think it is a phase with most and if it makes them happy well then lol!
I have actually got my nearly 14 yr old nephew a book for Christmas (and his elder sister), they both get money at birthdays though.
I second the idea of gadget gloves, or a nice beanie.

IME boys have more of a love/hate relationship with hygiene than girls. I think someone said on another thread that Lynx covers the teenage years enough for you to cope with this part of development because it's smell is preferable to the alternative. :D They are also gift boxed and aimed at the Xmas market, it's not like you've just wrapped up a can of Sure from the supermarket shelf. :D

I spent the other day wrapping bits for my nephew(nearly 13) and son (nearly 14). I had several under £5 items, mainly from places like B&M or Home Bargains. A Galileo themometer and a star gazer (if that's what it's called, it projects starts onto celiing -son's request) were £2.49- £2.99. The trio of ice age dvds - also a request from DS were slightly over budget at £5.99. The Annoying Orange annual which is interactive and stupid enough for a younger teen was around £3.

There are Minecraft books out, thouhg I'm unsure of price. The annual that is also out at £4;willl be too young for 16yo.

I've bought wallets before from Sports Direct at around that price.

a week or two ago my mum was after something to go with a gift card for her great nephew as his younger brother and sister have got pressies from her to unwrap and she did not want him to just have an envelope. i pointed out the gadget gloves in a shop and explained he would be able to use his phone without taking the gloves off - she thought it was a great idea for a 16 year old lad who is difficult to buy for (hence the gift card).
