Completion - mortgage advisers opinion please

Hello,

This is one for the mortgage advisers really, I am completing on a house purchase next week, I exchanged a fortnight ago.

I am sorting white goods, tv etc, and want to set up sky tv. Will taking out a sky contract effect the mortgage offer?

I know it sounds paranoid, but I am aware that the mortgage company will run checks right up to completion date and the transference of funds.

Will entering a sky tv and broadband package effect this and potentially cause any issues?

Thanks

    No idea, sorry.

I suspect there is no search, or any search will not show until your credit file is updated after completion/next month, but don't know for definite.

  • I am not a mortgage advisor but I can say from my experience.
We completed on a house on a friday, the previous Tuesday I signed up for BT (phone, tv, broadband).

This did not affect our mortgage offer, or come up on the one credit report that i have a monthly subscription for (Equifax) prior to completion. It did come up on the following monthly report though.

I could have just been lucky and they didn't update equifax until after the completion date, or they did and it made no difference to the mortgage offer. All I know is I did what you are proposing, and they did not rescind the mortgage offer.
