South Belfast doctors where I can get an appointment within a week

Options
Hi,

I have recently moved to south belfast and changed doctors surgery to one at the bottom of my street. I rang this morning for an appointment and was told that the next available appointment with any doctor is 23rd december!! I was expecting a week but not over 2!! Due to reasons i dont want to go into here- I cant wait that long for appointments. Can anyone recommend a doctors surgery in the south belfast area I can move to. The one I changed to is like 4 doors down but i will travel if any others will take me

Many thanks

I am with Queen's University health centre (graduate - and never moved doctors) but not sure if you can register with them or if you can only remain with them after graduation.

    They are brilliant for appointments

Do you have health insurance or do you mind paying for a consult on the same day?

Anyone that lives in the area can register.

Good bet. They even do evening appointments.

Glad is not just us in the sticks what wait for appointments. My GP practice the average wait is 3 to 4 weeks

I'm proper spoiled this week, because there's no appointments available and the doctor needs to speak to me about the last test results, I get a letter telling me to ring on such an such day and time, premium rate number at that !!

Finaghy Health Centre no longer do appointments after 3pm. So it's just for the old and the unemployed! So disappointed.

I think it might be a good idea to have a word with the practice manager and see what can be worked out to suit you. They're usually pretty approachable. I've found that in practices like this there are usually same day appointments if you don't mind what doctor you see. The problem usually occurs when you ask for a named doctor.

i think you are refering to open surgery, most have this in morning, just call in, no appointment and get whatever doc is doing the open surgery the day you call in

I know this goes on but in my own practice (and others I have been registered with in the past) you can actually get an appointment but it's usually later in the day.
