What would you do...

Thanks guys.
Yeah accommadation is in an international compound, so its like a western society behind walls, you don't have to follow the 'morality' rules, like you do on the streets, no abaya and you can wear shorts... In the compounds you would have a supermarket, restaurant, gym, swimming pools, playgrounds, etc...
Because Saudi national women do not work, in nursing it is almost exclusively foreign nurses, and all female. So a lot of people in the same position. And because you cannot visit Saudi Arabia as a 'tourist', and family visas are not granted to women, all these nurses are there on their tod... So hopefully potential to make friends.
And as for saving, with food yeah i suppose it adds up, but socialising opportunities are limited for single women in KSA, because of the muttaween (the morality police).
I am really tempted. I have enrolled to start a beginners Arabic course at University. 10 weeks of basic conversational, taught by native speakers, hoping that I might get some more personal opinions on this decision.0 -

Accomodation is free, but food, restaurants etc?
I'd do it, if I could do an open university course in my spare time, and bring back £35K.
Well If I go I will be going in spring, perfect timing to complete my 15,000 word dissertation for my MA in Medical Law and Ethics (... try not to yawn). So I will get a couple of letters out there

Sounds like you already know the answer...

What's the worst that can happen? You hate it and leave. Go. Enjoy yourself and experience different things whilst you can. Food is more expensive, but tax free you can save a huge chunk, and live as a Westerner on the compound anyway. Just be very, very careful when you leave the compound to behave in the way required by Saudi law.
You never know, you may end up with fantastic friends that you come back to the UK with and settle down together in a flatshare with a better job. The £42k savings you could make would more than pay for your Masters.
' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0
