Help!How to ask Bridesmaids!

I want to ask 3 of my friends to be my bridemaids soon but I'm a little bit scared!! I know it sounds silly but I'm scared if I ask them to there face they might feel pressured to say yes. I know 2 of them have had bad experiences being bridesmaids, with bridezilla brides, bad dresses, awful hair and make-up.

I'm not gonna be one of these brides and want them to know this. Should I maybe get them a card and ask them that way? Or is that inpersonal??

I just don't want to get it wrong! I love them to bits and wouldn't be upset if some of them said no because I know they are all so excited about the wedding and this definetly wouldn't change my friendship with any of them! I just want them to know this!!

Any suggestions??

Personally I would get each of them on their own and just ask, say you don't need their answer straight away and give them time to think about it, explain you will not be offended if they would rather not do it and go from there.

They are your friends and will more than likely be thrilled to be asked, however, do explain early on whether you will be supplying all their dresses, shoes etc or expecting them to because this could well sway their decision and I have know really good friends really fall out over these with assumptions on both parts!

When I marry Mr Bagpuss we will be supplying the bridesmaid dress and all accessories however she is only 7 so it's a bit different to having three! But by doing that I can choose what I want - obviously I wouldn't put her in anything vile but that can be something older bridesmaids fear!
