Dental Implants on the NHS?

Teeth and denture bases are made out of the same material.... acrylic that's why the teeth bond to the base. The acrylic is manufactured at high pressure and temperature around 228 degrees c . Not only is it made at high temperature and pressure but the soft tissues of the mouth protect the denture and would burn first. Indeed one of the ways of identifying victims of fires is by their teeth and dentures as these are often relatively intact when the rest of the body is consumed by fire.
Indeed you can even laser weld a denture with acrylic teeth and base with just some wax to protect the acrylic http://www.laserstar.net/dental-labs/partial_dentures.cfm0 -
My job
It's not the tooth that will melt it's the plate attached to the tooth

Thanks for getting back to me, I have never had adult teeth.
My current dentist seems to just want to pull them out or bridge them with his only other solution being false tooth
Have you asked your current dentist about implants? He may think you won't want to embark upon something like that at the moment, especially if he's not sure you could get them on the NHS. If you are within reach of a dental hospital that may be your best option. Ask your dentist about this too.0 -

Implants are usually only private only, but the OP's dentist will advise, even if it was a few grand, it maybe worth it in the long run.
from the NHS site "
All treatment that is clinically necessary in your dentist’s opinion to protect and maintain good oral health is available on the NHS. This means the NHS provides any treatment that you need to keep your mouth, teeth and gums healthy and free of pain, including:- dentures
- crowns
- bridges

Bridges have been placed on originally baby/deciduous teeth? Or am I reading it wrong?
Wadr you may need to work on your trust issues particularly the profit aspect. Dentists are at the end of the day trying to make a living. I am sorry that you had a bad experience but not all dentists are like that ... However they do still need to generate income to pay for the materials and equipment use to fix you, pay the bills to keep the building running and pay the staff used to make up the team. That's before we look at making money for themselves. Having to generate cash though does not make a dentist a bad person. No more so that the person that runs a laundrette or sells you food.
Even if you manage to sneak in to a dental hospital don't be under any illusion there are no financial constraints. Mark my words they have their own budgetary issues to consider.
Brook has covered most things. In normal circumstances you MAY get some form of implant retained prosthesis. It's not very common though. If you are missing all your adult teeth then they may offer an implant retained framework to hold an acrylic denture if you are a suitable candidate. Privately you may find greater options made available to you. Ask to be referred, hope for the best but expect the worst I.e. Hope to get something but expect nothing. And please work on your perception of dentists.0 -
