Can a dentist practice with a bro or bru?

Is the dentist an associate/salaried or else a principal practice owner? The former shouldn't be a problem but they should check their contract with nhs England/CCG or Health Board they have their contract with...and of course they should seek advice from their professional body, the BDA and their indemnity company who will give practical non-judgemental advice.


I know a dentist who was an associate who went bankrupt and had a BRU and it wasn't a problem.


If the dentist is a principal practice owner, then the BRU will extend the usual bankruptcy restrictions so that will mean not being able to obtain credit above £500 without legally having to disclose that they are under extended bankruptcy procedures. They also cannot act as a company director during the BRU period...all this might make it difficult for a practice owner to maintain their normal business (e.g when purchasing lab work, materials, equipment etc) as they would normally have a credit account for these items and pay them after they have been received..
