Hi all! I've been a lurker for a long time but after somehow accumulating around £4000 of credit card debt this year (luckily it's still 0% interest until June 2014, I believe) after finally getting rid of my student overdraft, I have to admit that I need somewhere to keep me on track. I love reading people's diaries so hopefully writing my own will keep me accountable.
I'm in my late twenties (although I still feel sixteen) and live in London which definitely isn't the cheapest of places to be. My fixed outgoings are pretty low, the only extravagance is my health club membership, but my real problem is overspending on food, clothes and bits/pieces to "treat" myself.
Right now I'm not quite sure exactly how much debt I have but I'll have a clear picture when I get my next pay through around the 20th of the month.
I had my Light Bulb Moment when I realised I couldn't admit to my parents how much credit card debt I have. It makes me feel quite sick. I want to be in a position where I have savings and an emergency fund, not two maxed out credit cards. My goal is to have all my debt paid off in 2014... I'll make a more solid payment plan once I know the exact amount (and find out whether or not I'm getting a pay rise this year).
Off to go try and work out a reasonable grocery budget. Shopping for one is a nightmare I find! I'm sure as I venture along in my journey I'll get better though.
Wish me luck!
