I also noticed that they're now stating a delay on dispatch. In my experience Amazon delays often end up being reduced and not as bad as first anticipated but you might not want to risk it if it's a Christmas present.
Perhaps have a look at Smiths instead. Just updated my post with a link to the same book at the same price. Not sure if they've just dropped their price recently as it didn't show up in my price comparison search for some reason but anyway it's worth trying there if you don't mind collecting from store0 -
Amazon have dropped their price again to just £3.99 (typical, after lots of us already bought it at £4.99!) Anyway it's out of stock at the moment but can still be ordered at that price. A bargain and well worth it if you don't need it in a hurry.0

Autumngirl do you already have this? Would you recommend for an A level geography student? We are short of space so I don't want to just buy on a whim.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -

I've received mine and am really pleased with it. For me it's a 'coffee table' type book though as it's nice to dip into every now and again.
I haven't studied A Level Geography myself so it's difficult to say but I'd imagine that this book would probably be a nice accompaniment to curriculum text books....although that said it may not actually contain much extra which isn't already covered in standard student text books - this Times Atlas perhaps just presents the info in a nicer way as it is a very nice book too look at, if that makes sense.
It's not 'babyish' at all though and as well as the up-to-date maps, city plans, flags and pretty aerial pictures (i.e. the kind of thing you'd expect from an atlas) there are also some statistics on earthquakes, climate, population etc and a really nice section with historical maps and a little summary explaining each one, which would be of interest to academics. I'm not sure a serious Geography buff would gain anything particularly new/different from this book but they'd still probably enjoy it nonetheless.
I'd say it's worth a punt for such a good price0 -
Thanks.
I've ordered even though it's out of stock.0 -
Got mine in yesterday, think my sister will be pleased with i as a stocking filler, although it won't actually fit in the stocking - hehe.Funky Little Frog0
