I didn't wrap it well enough and it has dried out quite a bit!
Other than using it as a door-stop, how do I rescue it before I marzipan it? I am hoping to trim off the hard exterior as I need to shape the cake anyway, but was wondering if I could feed it with anything non-alcoholic?

I'm not sure about the other bits, but tea is often a good substitute for booze when dealing with dried fruit. Might be worth a go.0

A Middle Eastern favourite is sugar syrup - just boil up some sugar in a little water - but it will make your cake very sweet and sticky. A small amount of orange squash would have a similar effect, if you don't mind the added orange flavour.0

I am going to for a combination of the sugar syrup and tea ideas, sweet tea! It has a lot of citrus peel in anyway so think fruit juice may be a bit overkill.0
