I'm going to ditch Egg

Got a 0% credit card with Egg, only recently have I noticed that the terms I thought I'd signed for aren't quite what they seem. The 0% for 9 months applies to BT's but they sneakily only made the purchases last for 7 months.
Added to that is their constant mithering. They keep ringing me up and emailing me. I tried to get a credit increase but they wanted a 10 minute chat with me first about 'options' and 'service they offer'.
Result? - no credit increase. I don't want to be mithered to death just to get my limit upped a bit.
Goodbye Egg. You're just like all the rest.

Eggs probably the best card on the market... The companies litterally throwing money away...
I doubt you will have better luck with most other CC companies ...

No other CC firm mithers me like they do
and why do I need a lengthy chat to get my limit increased?
Seems to be case of trying to flog me something otherwise I don't get the limit expanded.0 -
I recently asked them to up my credit limit (stupidly decreased it myself after paying off some debt a while back - before I found this site...!)
I had to go through chapter and verse with them in order to get my credit limit increased. But they were really nice on the phone and did increase my credit limit in the end - to the level I wanted. The people I spoke to were in some credit department rather than the general call centre.
Even if they haven't done this for you this time, it's worth hanging onto the card for the anniversary 0% offer. Then have another go for a better limit, and prepare your 'story' before you phone.
And I think you can go into your profile on the website and ask them not to contact you by phone. I only get the odd email and bit of post every couple of months.
Hope this helps. If it was easy, everyone would do it!0 -
If you had a bit of money, and a family member, for example, wanted to borrow a substantial amount, you may want to know why before you lend the money.
Credit cards work the same way.
Whilst it's another form of lending, you wouldn't get a mortgage without explaining to the lender all the details relevant to the property.
Egg are within their rights to want to speak to you about increasing your limit - as for the services they offer part - I agree. Maybe I'm one of few who let them do it without making a fuss because I realise people work for Egg and would be out of a job if people didn't take their services.
Not enough people bought cars made by MG Rover and look what happened there.0 -
You get used to it after a while... the sales spiels I mean..
Yes, ive already got insurance to protect my income etc....0 -
EGG had an offer about four or five weeks ago whereby they promised to pay out £10 if you subscribed to their Money Manager. I did this but still no sign of the ten pounds. Has anyone fared better?
I even got a survey from them a few days ago which indicated that they saw me as a Money Manager user.0 -
There are a couple of threads on the egg money manager £10
Here's one of them, with a link to the other
T&C's say May or June depending on when you register for Money Manager.
As always, it's your own choice, but Egg is one the few cards I will hang on to for longer than their 0% offer...If it was easy, everyone would do it!0 -

They already lent me a certain amount so why all the interrogation about a bit more?
Who cares what it's for? Its debt to them, that's all that matters.
The only info they need is my current salary (which they already know)
I know what their game is - they're trying to flog me insurance/current accounts/other worthless financial products in order to nullify any profit I make from the 0% promotional period.0 -
I've had an EGG card for ages and never had a call from them. MBNA are constant hagglers but I am still with them because I have a good 0% deal with them
. The words 'no thanks' sends them on their way.
If you want to ditch EGG - go ahead. It will be your loss not theirs - surely you intend to make money out of them not the other way around
