Good morning:) - it's been bad enough havng to get up all week, but the weekend comes and I'm up even earlier:(. Grrr...
Just to let you know (now he tells us:D) there have been two aims behind the M list this time. Firstly the usual one of putting items on that I think represent good value and are at their low price (only to find somewhere else goes to a lower price a couple of weeks later:(. To be fair, this doesn't happen that often.) Secondly an added aim of showing items where the price for M is cheaper than any of the options on msm. This includes some of the beauty and razor items, some of which are still several pounds:eek: even for M. Look at the differences in prices on some of those items! Hopefully however, in case you were thinking of comparing to elsewhere, this will alert you to the lower price for M (even if it's still more than I would pay!:D).
In fact I think my list is so good(:Tboring and inappropriate self-congratulation again) that I've got virtually all of the items on which M is lower than any of the msm-options on the list. (I know the Maltesers 120g are missing.) This is an attempt to stop you lot out-doing me. I doubt you'll find any further item that is lower priced for M than the msm options. (Famous next-to-last words.) The Savvy challenge is for you to find any item lower in price for M (probably from wombles) that I've failed to mention! (No prizes, just for fun:(.)0 -

Join up (free), enter the code numbers off the pastry packaging (10 points per packet), to get cooking items or supermarket gift certificate; it's 70 points, or 7 packets, for a £5 certificate.
So if you've bought 8 packets and used the MOC, that cost you £3, but you'll get £5, so £2 in profit overall. (Thanks to those to explained this before:))
Not forgetting the 50 cc points per pack using the coupons from the 'Turkey' mag.ELITE 5:2

Savvybuyer, it seems that we may now have a replacement to your M lists which were rudely interrupted by the over-zealous M Deputy Manager asking you to leave. Thank you so much for all your efforts in gathering price data and maintaining your lists for us - I think if the new M website and app take off (and are then reflected in the APG/MSM) we may have a suitable replacement and you can relax/use your talents on a new project.
Do you or others know if the online service will offer the complete range available instore? Is around 11,098 products indicated on the browse page the full grocery range? All now heading off to have a look and download the app ...

Oh I'm sooo glad you got that completely accurate!:rotfl:
It's had an unintended beneficial effect, which I rather like! And it's less onerous than before. I'm finding the memory collection is taking half the time that the old collections took. They're missing the odd item or price, and leaving me sometimes doubtful over whether to include the odd item where I'm unsure if the one in M is exactly the same as the one on msm. (I'm using my judgement or sometimes putting the item on the list regardless but mentioning 'need to check...'.) But much of the same information that would have been caught on the old lists is there.
I've no idea if the online service will include the full range. I think M were reported to be in talks with an American fresh fruit and veg. supplier earlier this year and I thought that sadly they may confine it to those items, but they have opted for the Ocado arrangement and hopefully it will be the full range. It seems to me though the items on M's website have become even more restricted of late (they used to have drop-down lists of items on offer, although sometimes or often not specific enough for us, but I can't find them anymore (perhaps I'm not looking in the right area) and instead now show a promotion of sometimes only two or three items for a store-area:(). I've signed up to be notified of when the delivery service is available, but I haven't even received any email yet telling me it is. Perhaps, although we're told this is due to start "next year", it will start in December or something:(:(. Surely it won't be that late. Although perhaps I could be holding on till April.
I've no idea about 11,098 items:o - is that the msl app for Mr A or is it something now on M's website? (You're sending me to m.co.uk to have a look!:rotfl:) As I only collected items that were on good prices, some items never appear. Others are known to be non-comparable and don't appear. I do have more than 1,000 items on my "Mcomparable" list though. Doesn't the average large store have more than 11,000? (Although there are non-grocery sections that are being largely skipped - that will include every newspaper and magazine the store stocks, loads of individual stationery items and plenty of cookery items, etc., so would add quite a lot more.)
Anyway, at least for now, the new way is the way to do it! (It never occurred to me just how easily I remember that much!) The way is to go to M without pen or paper and remember the prices. Start the list from scratch each week and it takes less time than scrolling up and down and up and down and amending a previous one!:j:j0 -
