When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

Morning Gang!!
Ahhh, finally four days off for me - it's been another long week!!
Thanks for starting us lovely Ziggy :A x
Although the last couple of weeks haven't really been very money-saving for us (Christmas shopping, booking next year's holidays etc) it's been fantastic to see and feel the attitude change from previous years.
We've thought more about what each of our loved ones want and need and bought/made small gifts to reflect that - rather than flashing the cash on material objects that get stashed in a cupboard somewhere!!
We've also now paid for three lovely holidays next year in full - no debt, no last-minute panic about where the money is going to come from... So although this month is a little tight, we have a sense of pride in what we've achieved and how our mindset has changed over the last year. Something to celebrate!
Anyway, back to reality...
Plans for today go something like:
Check banking - all fine
Make cottage pie for tonight - got boys from work coming round for dinner rather than spending the night at the pub!!
Hoover and dust around house, burn lovely candles for nice smell and warmth!
Hang Christmas lights around balcony - these will only go on when we're at home and are low-energy LED bulbs... A compromise with the OH!!
Pop to delivery office and pick up last package of presents!!
Finish wrapping Christmas presents - nearly done now!! :xmassmile
FaceTime little bro in London
Nectar Adpoints - doing pretty well with these - now up to £40 in points!!
Sew bed sheets up to make 4 simple bivvi bags for travelling - saving £30 on buying purpose-made ones!!
Start getting rucksack up together ready for travelling - needs an airing and freshen up before I pack!! Any tips ladies??
No Spend Day today!
Think that's about it for now!
Hope everyone has a great day xxx:T DEBT FREE AS OF APRIL 2013! :T"I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul"0 -

Morning all!
Well, it's really blowing a gale here, so our cold house is feeling draughtier than usual. I've dug out my huge Peruvian cardi which is like wearing a carpet, am feeling personally very insulated at least!
Today's few bits & bobs of money-saving:
-Ran heated airer overnight on Economy 7. Everything dry.
-Did the ironing & switched off for final item. Also tried folding a sheet, putting it over the ironing board & ironing smaller things on top of it. It kind of worked as the sheet got more or less ironed for free.
-Heating off until 5.30pm.
-Shared bath water.
-'Shopped' from freezer for next week's meal plans - I need to free up space for my Christmas baking, so doubly useful.
-Meals as per meal plans - home made lentil dhal with rice & salad.
-Did a few surveys.
-Checked bank account to see if mr f's £50 Ugov survey money has been paid. Yes it has!
-Rounded up spare change & added it to our Big Money Jar.
-Will continue Christmas gift sorting & wrapping. Am making good use of my stash of recycled ribbons/bows, home-made gift tags & last year's paper.
-Free entertainment today. Found a stash of compilation CDs made either by me or for me. No recollection of what's on them, so intend to start finding out!
Well, the gales are pretty bad here & I know they are supposed to be a lot worse further North & up into Scotland, so take care, everyone, & try to stay warm, without letting those corrupt energy companies have TOO much of your hard earned cashola.
Big love,
foxgloves x
shootforthemoon - have just dealt with frowsty insides of picnic rucksack with bicarb of soda. I just recycled a small plastic pot by piercing the lid a few times, filled it with bicarb of soda & stood it in the bottom of the rucksack. If it was a general rucksack & not for food, I'd have given it a quick spritz with an Avon room & linen spray, which are good for this sort of thing, seem to come in nicer fragrances than many of these chemically products & can generally be picked up on offer for 99p. Another thought, if you could turn it inside out, could you peg it outside on the line? It's so windy, that should blow any gunky niffs away?

10. Practised mindfulness, especially mindful eating.
11. Take good care of my teeth by brushing for 2 mins, flossing and listerineing twice a day.
12.Looking up how to use google calendar as a goal setting and achievement tool.
13. Used lemon and sugar as a facial scrub.
14. Tidied up.
15. Had a no spend day.

'Look after the pennies and the pounds look after themselves'
I buy what's on offer at the supermarket rather than what I fancy
I go to different supermarkets for different things - they all have their own better priced stuff
I put the washer on at night and 'dangle' them to dry overnight (the house looks like a Chinese laundry!)
I buy what food I need to eat so that we throw hardly anything away
Lots of little changes add up to more money in your pocket - to pay off debts or to spend on things that are nice.
Look after those pennies...0
