Chem-dri carpet cleaning company

Has anyone used Chem-Dri for cleaning your carpets...where they good...would you recommend them.
I am dubious about Chem Dri, not the company but the product, can they really clean carpets and upholstery properly?

I am a professional carpet cleaner.

Chem Dry are a franchise, the ability to deliver a good job depends on who holds the franchise in your area. They are also expensive, I would do a job for 2/3 of their quote and be happy!

Far better find a local tradesman recommended by friends or family.

There are also trade associations you could look up:

    National Carpet Cleaners Association (NCCA)
The Approved carpet cleaners association (TACCA)

I am a member of both

The cost for living room is £19, bedroom £15 is this expensive?

The company is not a member of the associations you named?

  • Depends on room sizes!

I work on roughly £3 per sq. metre, depending on soiling, furniture moving or not, how busy I am.

One of the major scams in this trade is "bait and switch"..

£x per room over the phone or advertised then when they turn up that is only for a skim clean, a proper clean can be hundreds more. A reputable cleaner will come and quote, for free, and leave you with a written quote (not estimate!).

    Thanks Warwicktiger,
I have cancelled to appointment as I was not happy when the chap called me back 3 days later and asked me ; What rooms do I want doing, How much did I quote you and what is your address!

Obviously not in the loop of efficiency.
Thanks for your replies, very helpful.

You are welcome. Repeat, Recommendation and Referral are over 70% of my jobs this year, I am not the cheapest but people seem to like what I do, so ask your friends.

PS, I note the originally from Hull on your location, the Warwick in my name is my current location and the Tiger refers to my Football team!

Interesting to see this post as a couple of weeks back I posted for information on Chem dri as I've been thinking of getting my sofa & armchair cleaned. I didn't get any responses to my post & then twice sent email enquiries to Chem dir for a quote. They tell you somebody will call & make an appointment but nobody has contacted me so that is a huge strike against the company to start with.

If a company can't be bothered to pass on messages or work possibilities to operatives, then it reflects very badly I'm afraid.

I've since contacted somebody else, a one man band who has been to give me a quote. It was higher than I was hoping for but as I have a high cost quality suite I want to ensure it is done properly, so don't want to risk getting somebody in who has low prices then turns out to be a cowboy operator.

I would be interested to hear from warwicktiger on his approx cost for a 3 seat sofa & 2 arm chairs with Scotchguarding. I'm in London, so can't use you unfortunately, but would be nice to see how my quote stacks up from a professional point of view.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • Hi Cattie, only seen this post today.

Charges vary incredibly widely, not just on area thought I suspect London is much more expensive than my patch, in turn me being more expensive than certain part of the UK. ( He says not wishing to offend anyone!)

I currently work on £22.00 per seat, so £110 for your suite.

I do not use scotchguard due to cost, but to apply protector the industry rule of thumb is add 50% to cleaning cost.

Thanks warwicktiger. The quote I got is nearly double what you would charge, so quite a premium for being in London!! Wish I could courier my furniture to you!

Anyway, when I mentioned to the guy it was a bit more than I was expecting, he said he'd throw in the Scotchguarding for free, so that makes it more palatable.

  • lol.

Throw in the scotchguarding for free ??

The reason I do not use it is last time I looked it was about £89+Vat for 5 litres, the one I use is £39+vat. (5l would do 3-4 suites), but it takes time to apply it properly.

Perhaps if a couple of your friends or family got together I could commute for a day to do all three jobs and save you all £££££
