    Like it :) Sadly our library never has the books I actually want, but in a year's time they'll still be on the wish list to remind me and then I can find them 2nd hand on Ebay

  • That's a great idea because it delays the need for 'instant gratification' without denying it completely. Procrastination used to positive effect!
  • I have done this for years. I dream that someday someone will come along and ask me what I want for Christmas and my reply will be "everything on my Amazon wishlist" .... only cause I have 275+ items sitting there...; - )

    Charity shops are brilliant for cheap books. They get the price of the book and, once read, you can redonate them so they get two bites of the cherry.

  • Delete your card info from the online stores and if you feel the impulse, you will have to add you card details again. hopefully there will be enough thought process of ... Im adding my card details do i really need to do this ? works for me.
  • I'm actually the opposite! Almost all of my impulse purchases have come from Amazon, and having it there in my wishlist tends to make me want to buy it more. But I decided before this Christmas that I wanted to start supporting local stores and do my shopping that way rather than via Amazon. So the fact that I've made a conscious decision not to use Amazon and either to hunt out the best deals in online ethical stores or go to high street stores that pay decent amounts of tax has really helped. Mainly because by the time I've done all the necessary research or thought about whether I really want to go out in the cold... I don't want the item any more! One of the few times when laziness helps thriftiness...
