Thousands of people across Northern Ireland are buying bogus electricity saving devices, investigators at Trading Standards believe.
Some companies are selling small plug-in devices that simply do not work.

I've never come across this before but there was a documentary on the BBC a few months ago about people in Northern Ireland paying to get their meters bypassed. This seems to be just an extension of that - buy the device and cheat the electricity company.
Except the devices don't work. Hell slap it up anybody who's already bought one.

I hadn't seen the NI news when I posted this item but it was featured. It seems there is a real problem here with potential dangers because some of the products being sold are unsafe. I hope nobody I know has bought one.0
