 Sorry Tabatha Kitten, have swapped the pink for purple - trouble is black on white is tricky for me - on my on-screen docs I have a pastel coloured background when typing the black text to save eyes a bit, so I was trying it on here the other way round. Have switched to see if it helps ~ see if I can find something which suits all of us!
Elantan ~ yes, 'twas mad! Glad it gave you a smile
Tahlullah ~ yes, I'm with you on that one, truly sad.

The purple definitely works better for me but I think a long overdue eye test is probably more than likely the answer x0
-
Hi good luck on your journey I will subscribe to your post and many thanks for going purple as like TK my eyes were hurting too0

TK ~ Purple it is then! Hope you qualify for free tests, as it can be a horrible extra expense otherwise
Want_To_Save: Lovely to meet you and thanks for following along!
Well, today was more about Christmas preps than mortgage, so today's action was to keep Christmas shopping spending within budget (especially as I already took £200 out of my Christmas saving pot and put it into the mortgage). Hopefully being a bit more careful this Christmas will help with that long-term pay-off plan!Today's grey cloud: None really, blue sky, plod along kinda day.
Today's silver lining: RBS send letter confirming my recent request to cap our borrowing facility. Letter also usefully confirmed no charges for overpaying mortgage!
Today's happy thought: People seem much more cheerful doing the Christmas shopping thing this year, lots of smiley people in town and good nature about queuing or cranky children. An old blind guy was playing folky type tunes on his accordion, whilst his dog who sat patiently with a tinsel collar, both outside Debenhams; a local youth group of kids came along "dressed" as reindeer and did an impromptu dance, complete with cheery bells around their ankles to jingle all the way, all very festive fun without any extra spend involved (apart from a couple of £ in the relevant collection hats).
Hope all's well for everyone else

Just wanted to pop in and wish you well on your MFW journey
. Sounds like you have a sensible plan in place. My focus for next year is to increase our Emergency Fund savings as I am ok in my job for the next Financial Year, but after that I'm not so sure and I want a good buffer in savings should I lose my job.

Thanks for stopping by SweetDaisy, that's the trouble isn't it, so many uncertainties? I haven't even begun to think seriously about an emergency fund apart from trying the £10 a day challenge: that's the money I'm hoping to put by as a buffer for my own holidays (self-employed, so no work = no pay) and for other emergencies! I'm trying to make it that anything else which comes in will go into there, and everything we earn throughout the coming year, that isn't used by essential living costs, will go on the mortgage.Today's MF action:
Tilly-tidying over to mortgage account.Today's grey cloud: OH dropped the fairy when he was [STRIKE]swearing, grumbling and plonking[/STRIKE] ceremonially placing her on the top of the tree. Her ceramic head shattered on the slate hearth  Did think for a moment about getting a Barbie or such from a charity shop to "fix" her but think she'd end up looking like one of those Frankenstein toys in Toy Story, so have decided against it.
I also managed to smash a mirrored millennium bauble I've had for, oooh must be 13 years (!) which my mum brought safely back from New York. Is there a superstition attached to two breakages in same tree-decorating session, as with mirrors and such?OH says he will replace fairy, from his own pocket.
Am enjoying simple pleasures of MSE-ing by glow of fairy lights (if not glow of actual fairy)!
Hope everyone's had a good weekend, hugs to those who'd like them! :wave:Stash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

A quietly productive day - both at work and in the MFW attempts.
Today's MFW action was a small tilly-tidy and some bargainous online Christmas shopping during lunch-time, so everything's within the new budget really, except ...Today's grey cloud: have had to make a dentist appointment as slight problem has arisen (literally). Had my 6 month check just 2 months ago so shouldn't be anything major, I just need her to look at it and tell me that it's OK. They don't charge you to look, do they? I'm hoping they only charge for treatments, as I really haven't budgeted for this! This is why you're so right about the emergency fund, SweetDaisy!
Today's silver lining: This evening I hope to start sewing up the whole batch of hot water bottle covers I've been knitting to go with new hotties, as [STRIKE]frugal[/STRIKE] specially handmade with love Christmas gifts for friends!
Today's happy moment: popped the dogs out at lunchtime and really enjoyed the "smell" of the season and the colours of the park.
So, off to sew up those covers. Hugs to those who'd like one, and also to those who think they don't but might well benefit from one anyway!Stash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!
