The EU are trying to ban them, but they really work and save lives and money. I don't think they should be banned.

As for me e-cigs don't work. I've tried them not only once, but there haven't been any result.0

I've already signed the petition and Shared on Facebook. They worked for me and I smoked for nearly 50 years. Apart from a blip when my e liquid didn't arrive, I've been tobacco free for almost a year. They're just trying to claw money back for all the revenue they've lost from tobacco sales.0

What did you try? Maybe people here can suggest different e-cigs/juice etc, there are many elements to it, it could be as simple as changing the amount of nicotine in the e-liquid, or tying a different type of atomizer.
I would also add that it depends on expectations.. I'll never forget someone I know many years ago trying nicotine gums and complain they didn't work 'look I can still smoke a fag, these gums are supposed to make you feel sick when you try smoking again'...0 -

Indeed many different factors add to it.
It takes time to find your favorite taste of e-liquid. And even then it depends on your equipment how it tastes not only atomizers has influence here but also a batteries. Yes, batteries with regulated voltage can produce different amounts and tastes of smoke. But once you find the spot on the liquid and an equipment you won't come back to analogs.
And e-cigs are so much better for the health and the pocket.0 -
I started off on menthol e liquid (because I smoked menthol cigs) and conventional batteries with prefilled cartomisers, which I then refilled. Now, I'm using shisha pens which I've found more efficient and liquorice e liquid which I mix myself. I'm on a really low nicotine dose because for me, it was probably more a case of the "dummy effect"!
I actually have probably spent more money because I used to smoke rollups but the main thing is that I'm healthier as a result and I truly have never looked back or been tempted to smoke again. I hope all of you who are trying to give up are successful0 -
do ecigs contain nicotine? what else?
I cant see how people will stop 'smoking', if still getting their fix from these..Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
I do wonder how long it will take before they start finding dangerous chemicals in them. Besides antifreeze type compounds which they know about and possible cancer causing chemicals.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Just to clarify - the EU are not banning e-cigs. The most that the EU is likely to do is give member states an option to ban them or classify them as medicines that will be regulated. The UK government intention is to regulate them as medicines and ban underage sales. This could be very good for vapers as it will force manufacturers to produce better quality, more consistent products in order to get a licence - at present quality control is very poor, the nicotine dose in many e-cigs is very inconsistent and many of them have safety issues with the electric components which can cause fires. The poor quality of products and inconsistency of the nicotine dose can actually undermine quit attempts. Products licensed as medicines will also be able to be marketed as quit aids which is currently illegal for e-cigs - so again, medicines licensing could actually help more smokers quite. Not all regulation is a bad thing!
Anything that helps a smoker quit is good in my book, but I'm not keen on the way that growing numbers of non-smokers are taking up vaping (including under 18s) and ending up with a nicotine addiction. Everyone says it's the 'other stuff' in cigarettes that causes problems but we don't yet know the health impacts of long term use of e-cigs (they've only been on the market here since 2008, it took longer than that to understand the links between smoking tobacco and health problems) and I really don't like the idea of young people being able to buy them and develop an addiction.
As for 'nicotine is no worse than caffeine' - that's not correct. Nicotine is classed as a poison under the Poisons Act for very good reasons. Caffeine isn't on that list.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
Just to echo Brown eye bazzi, in the mouth nicotine is a very big problem. It both supresses the immune reaction and decreases blood supply to the gums so directly affects gum disease.
Oral cancer now affects more people than cervical cancer and is affecting younger people and any irritant ,not just tobacco e.g. betel nut chewing, heat ect can be an initiator.
E cigs are better for you than traditional cigs no doubt but they are not a healthy option. They have their own problems and like patches etc should only ever be seen as a stepping stone to stopping smoking.
The lack of regulation should concern everyone, you really have no guarantee the juices have what they say they have in them and that is a concern.0
