Can anyone tell me what is an average price I should be paying for a 3mm and a 5mm 9ct white gold wedding band?

Want to have a look for some but don't know what is reasonable?

  • We've been looking at around 100 for each.depends on where you get it from. Might be best trying somewhere like the jewellery quarter rather than high street x

I'm planning on buying our wedding rings from betts metal sales http://www.bettsmetalsales.com as I have heard good things about them from on here and also other forums. In order to get the trade prices you need to register - put down your business as "hobbyist" and you can have access to the good prices when you are signed in. If you aren't signed in they show at full price.

I signed in and did a theoretical costing for you based on D shape medium rings as I wasn't sure what shape and depths you wanted:

    3mm 9ct white gold, d-shape, medium weight (1.5mm depth), 2.7grams - £39.85
    5mm 9ct white gold, d shape, medium weight, 4.2grams - £61.03
    Delivery - £3.58
    VAT - £20.89
TOTAL: £125.35 for your two rings delivered :)
    GC2012: Nov £130.52/£125
    GC2011:Sept:£215
    Oct:£123.98Nov:£120Dec:£138Feb:£94.72

    Quit smoking 10am 17/02/11 - £4315 saved as of Nov'12

It sounds expensive, but if you make them yourself for each other it adds a whole new level of symbolism to your rings :) I guess emotional purchasing, such as rings, needs to take so many things into account! For us, price is number 1 combined with the fact that we will be giving them to each other on our wedding day, which is why we are going to Betts Metals. For others, they might want to know that the local man who sold their parents wedding rings made theirs too etc. I'm waffling, sorry!

So has anyone actually got a ring from Betts? What are they like?
  • I would check out The Wedding Ring Workshop, they were super helpful to me 2 years ago when me and my husband made our wedding bands, you should have a look.

One thought - my weddding ring has been on my finger since third child born & years later will now only come off with a chisel.
I love it to bits, & my engagement ring is now an occasional ring. Think carefully about your planned bands as with luck they'll be there for decades!
    All the very best!

Just taken delivery of our rings from betts metal sales, hers is a platinum 3mm band and mine a palladium 950 5mm band, cost £450 with free engraving, can't speak highly enough of the company, realised I had missed the free engraving code, phoned up and without hesitation they took the money off the bill. rings arrived in three working days.

Of course. the Palladium (mens) ring cost £201 and the Platinum ring £251.

Her engagement ring was made in Hatton Garden and they quoted £350-400 for her wedding ring and they wanted £900 to make my ring in platinum! absolute bargain from betts in comparison.
