Firstly, learn from experience. It's always better to deal cash, that way you don't leave the kinds of paper trails the council have picked up on.
Secondly it's unlikely you will be able to take on the council's finance dept. unless you fully understand how they work. At this stage you would be better to enlist the help of Citizens Advice or a solicitor.0 -
Those must have been very large loans? How much did you have in your bank account? You are permitted to have a significant amount of cash £6,000 before it affects housing benefit and £16000 before you would have zero benefit.
I find it hard to believe you would qualify for several large loans whilst on housing benefit. This smells like a wind up to me."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Oh, now I understand: You have money being paid into your current account regularly which council have identified as income which you did not declare. You can appeal their decision and hopefully council will accept your explanation.
PS; You should not be borrowing money to lend to others."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
