Nationwide online DIP - System Error

Options
Hi guys,

I have tried, unsuccessfully, a number of times to get a DIP online from the Nationwide. I get to a point after my current address details where I tick a box on the use of my data.

I'm then presented with:
Sorry, we are unable to process your request due to a system error.

We are aware of the issue and our technical team is investigating the problem.

Please try submitting your request again.

Yet, despite "being aware of the issue" it doesn't seem to have been sorted anytime soon...haas anybody else had any difficulties recently obtaining an online DIP?

Does your address match 100% the address returned by Royal Mail?

Get you credit file from Noddle, Equifax, and Experian to see how you address is returned on your file.

No, as the address has a "/" in it - eg "10/3" - This is how my NW accounts are addressed but on their systems it needs to be entered as "10" in house number and "3" in flat number...their systems then automatically correct it.

It's been a PITA for years but I've never yet failed an address check as all variants are listed (confirmed from Equifax and Experian that regardless of how it is entered the system will confirm the address provided both numbers are provided - they know it's an issue with flat numbers particularly in Scotland where it is more common hence why the address check will always clear no matter how it is entered).

All the credit agencies show it differently as do all my accounts on my file - as it's the format that they use - even though my electoral roll form says "10/" on Experian it still shows as "10,2" as Experian's system doesn't allow for a forward slash!

However the error isn't at the address stage, it's after the "data protection" stage and the "system error" is what's confusing me.

Surely it should return something a bit more meaningful.

Make sure you put "Flat 3" in the flat box and the building number "10" in the building box. I had terrible problems until someone at Nationwide told me you have to write Flat, as well as the flat number.

    It worked for me.

    Hi King Street,

Thanks for the suggestion but still no luck!

I might just have to do it over the phone - I would just have preferred to have had it online!

It's just annoying more than anything to get so far only to have an error in a continuous loop that you can't get through!
  • Hello,

Sorry for reviving an old post - but did you manage to find out what the issue was here?
We have had an online DIP approved, and offer on a house has been accepted. I have today tried to submit our full application, paid the booking fee and got to the 'final steps' page and the exact same error above is showing.
It will not let me press apply, even though Nationwide now have my fee money! I have phoned their helpdesk 5 times, been told to go to branch, then not to go to branch as its been done online, then got told it can be finished over the phone, then told not as I have already paid the fee! As a result when I go to my online account, the tracker shows my DIP, paying the fee, then multiple lines of :

Product Reserved - X Years X% etc etc

I then press 'apply' and I get the same error... :(
I have run out of patience this afternoon and am now stuck on what to do next!
I am a first time buyer and have worked hard to get this far and get a big enough deposit together, the last thing I need is the seller pulling out because I can't arrange a mortgage! Nationwides mortgage team really don't seem to know what to do and advised me to wait 48 hours for the error to clear... I work in IT daily and know full well errors just don't clear themselves... So wondered if you managed to find out what the issue was when the above error was presented? Thanks.
  • Am a broker and not been able to submit a case today with same error. Spoke to nationwide it dept and they updated the system over the weekend and there is a problem with it so is a widespread issue. They are working on a fix at the moment

  • Hello,

Good to know I'm not the only one!! Its very stressful, can you let me know when yours is working so I can try please? Thank you.
  • Another thing I have just noticed, while I was trying to apply yesterday, the system kept trying to obtain decision in principles. My online account now shows 5 certificates! Is this likely to show on my credit report and go against me as multiple searches?

When I applied for a Nationwide mortgage some months ago, and it was only to port, not a new application and no more that I have been paying for about 12 years, their computer system had a glitch that rejected my application. Their Mortgage Advisor asked me if I had been honest with them as their system showed issues with my finance history, politely accusing me of hiding something. I had not.

I eventually found out that their system has been highlighting false concerns for mortgage applicants for many months, yet despite knowing about this error, Nationwide has fixed it.

Basically every application you make via Nationwide, even on the same application was showing up as a new application. My one application flagged up as 7 applications on their system, so Nationwide interpreted this as me having numerous applications ongoing. A complete mess, all down to Nationwide.

Could this be the same problem for you now?

I only got it sorted by making an official complaint.

  • Hello,

Thanks for the response, I have complained about the service so far and have had to book an appointment to go and complete in branch, from scratch. The original application is still sat in the system and they have taken my fee money... what a screw up, just hope it gets sorted.
As I am a first time buyer, I am very worried about all the different things that could go against me - this system 'bug' being one of them! How long did it take for them to reject you? Was it straight away or a wait?
