Hello
I set up DMP's 6 years ago and I have not cleared the debts yet. I got married 2 years ago but have not changed my name with creditors or banks etc as I did not want my poor credit rating to have an effect on my husband nor did I want my creditors to start asking for financial details of my husband as I don't want him financially affiliated to me in any way. All the debt I got was before I met him. We do not have any expendible income so although we are married I am not in a position to increase my minimum payments anyway.
Would it have any adverse affect if I formally change my name to my married name with banks and creditors?

Actually the article doesn't mention if my DMP creditors can demand to take joint finances in to account. Any help on this one?

Sorry, not a clue, but belated congratulations on matrimony & your admirably solid intent to protect spouse from backwash!0

They can demand what they like, just tell them its nothing to do with your OH. As only in your name, nothing they can do.:beer:0

Changing your name won't financially link you to your husband but having joint financs such as a joint current account or joint mortgage will0
