Kensington morgages/money partners

Back in 2004 I took out a 5 year 2nd mortgage with Money partners who later were rebranded as Kensington mortgages. All was well until 2008, 11 months before the loan period ended, at that point I was made redundant due to the company I was working for, going into receivership. Unable to get a job and no savings, I started working for various agencys. and carried on making regular payments to all my creditors, so 5 years later I,m debt free other than with the KENSINGTON MORTGAGE CO....
As with all my creditors I tried to make regular payments to them. but with no regular income coming to me, I could not enter into an arrangement committing me to a regular monthly direct debit. but the Kensington would not accept that although I was making payments to them they took me to court and put a charge on my house, so that if I ever sold it they would get paid. I carried on making payment to them but whatever I did or whatever I paid the debt didn't seem to reduce. I called them to make a payment of £600 on a particular Friday and asked for my outstanding balance before they took the payment, I was told that it was £1041.00 after the payment was taken I asked for my revised balance and was told it was now £1601 ? after this debacle I refused to pay them any more money and asked them to take me to court, which they did 7 months later. we had 5 court dates from aug 2010 to jan 2011 during this time I defended myself and Kensington put 15 differing amounts to the court of how much overall I owed this was from £1241.22 to £7607.00, the judge me and their counsel could not make head nor tail of any of the information provided, the judge asked for various clarifications and calculations to be made and put into the court within 30 days, all turned up late and caused court dates to be put back. after the third date the judge went though the papers and asked me to pay £601 to the court as that was the amount he worked out I may owe from the accounts presented to the court. he then booked the another court date for Kensington to provide proof of me owing the extra money they had claimed for. their answer to this was to drop the case..so since jan 2011 I have been in limbo..they send me letters every month saying I now owe this amount and owe this amount for the current diffaulted payment and of course on top of that the £50 monthly payment for not having a direct debit. and every month after receiving the letter I make the usual call to them asking them to please take me back to court and asking for someone from their litigation dept to call me back and of course no return call is made...until now..........
I get my normal threatening end of month letter its now for £27k, I then get a call from them, young lady goes though the nomal security questions and then tells me the outstanding balance again and asks me if Im in a position to make a payment, I then go through the outline of my story with her and she does a short investigation, after her short investigation, she asks me why I had not made an official complaint. I say I thought I had, she tells me that she has no record of an official complaint and will process one on my behalf now and that I will get an official within 7 days. 7 days later I call back and am informed that the letter has been sent and that n... s......... is dealing with it, so I ask to talk to him, then get told he is off till the Wednesday. call Wednesday get told he is in a meeting till the afternoon, so ask for him to give me a call..next day I get the call introduces himself and goes through my account bit by bit. He tells me that they had made various errors in accounting and procedures with my account. AND WHEN THEY HAD TAKEN ME TO COURT IN 2010 TO GAIN POSITION OF MY HOME, I WAS IN FACT £389.00 IN CREDIT.
and after al this time of making my life hell.. I,m offered my own money that's in credit back and £500. compensation..
what do you think should be my next step ?

Wow, that is an incredible story. I'm sorry to learn that you have been through a situation like that. If you have taken your complaint as far as possible through Kensington, you may now wish to consider taking it to the Financial Ombudsman Service:
