Work asking for IVA details

Hi, looking for some advice please.
My husband had an IVA which has completed over a year ago. He has a certificate of completion and his credit file is now not showing any of this.
He had a job interview earlier this week (for a car salesman job) and was asked if he had ever been bankrupt or ever had any CCJs. Put on the spot, and wanting to be honest, he declared having had a IVA which was now clear. He had 2 people interviewing, the woman seemed unsure of what this meant but the man said - as long as he had a certificate of completion - that this should not be a problem.
He has given them a copy of the certificate. He was offered the job, and has left his current employer.
Today he has received an email asking for details of the IVA - amounts and who to, and the circumstances of this ie was it due to a marital breakup.
What we would like to know is does he have to give this information. We both feel that maybe he was too honest by declaring this in the first place seeing as he has fulfilled his commitments and repaid the IVA as planned. if he has to give this info he will of course, but does he have to? It all seems a little bit too personal to have to declare amounts and debtors?
As he has left his job on the strength of this job offer obviously we are both worried.
Could anyone advise?
Many thanks x

He should answer any questions in the interview honestly as possible...has he received his contract of employment yet?"Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0

Thanks for your reply. But thats my question really... he has not had any CCJs or been made bankrupt so could have just said no, he chose to be honest and declare he has had an IVA. But could he have kept this to himself? We thought an IVA, once completed and the 6 years have passed, would be gone. Is this going to linger over him for ever??0

I am no expert and you may need help from someone who is but my gut feeling is that as he was honest and up front they are being a bit nosey. The data this company are asking for is indeed very personal and they may not have any right to ask.
It would not seem unreasonable to ask the company why they need this information; who will have access to it and what their personal data protection policy is? (that might at least make them think again about what and why they are asking?)
I know this is tricky when you don't want to lose the job. Do you think they are trying to find out if he has ever owed money to a car finance company? That might be awkward for them I guess if its a company they use? Its just a thought.
Perhaps if your OH asks why they want to know it might help with the decision?0 -
Thanks for taking the time to reply. I think that is what we will do next, ask for what purpose they need this information. He has worked in sales throughout this whole time, arranging credit terms with customers, collecting payments in cash etc so seems at odds that this company are asking now??0
