Salary Expectations

I recently applied for a job with Close Brothers as a Business Support Advisor and have received an email today asking to confirm my current salary and expectations before they can continue with my application.

At present I am employed on an hourly rate as I only work part time but as my children are getting older I am thinking of going full time.

What would you tell them in this instance dont want to seem to forward but last year I made £14K working a 24 hour week? Thanks in advance for any advice folks.

What is your expectation? Will there be more responsibility, demands, pressure? Any other benefits included in either role?

You could say your FTE salary is currently £21k . However, for the role on offer your expectation would be salary of £25k. That's not an outrageous difference. If the role is significantly broader then it would be legitimate to raise that figure.

Might help give you an idea of what they pay.

Definately word the salary as a FTE or someone who skim reads may not pick up that is 14K for a 0.66, and assume you are very cheap or under qualified for the position.

I emailed back and said I would be willing to negotiate but my FTE was £21K and they said the job offers a maximum of £17K - I dont understand why companies do not advertise a salary to begin with - would save a lot of wasted time!

But thanks for all the help anyway guys.
