Cyber Monday????

So three days ago we had 'Black Friday' on every other email. Today, going by several emails already, is "Cyber Monday".

I wish they would just be honest. How about if from tomorrow they do...

Give me all your money Tuesday
Stand and deliver (free delivery, natch) Wednesday
I can't pay for my villa in Spain without you Thursday
And Blue Friday (similar to the black version, but it goes better with my wardrobe)

Fortunately all the sales emails will doubtless soon be balanced out by all the WEMs for advents we will all start receiving today!

Despite my time on MSE I was still puzzled by Black Friday, so I posted the question on my FB.
Several friends responded with helpful info & links etc, but my daughter's reply was...
"It's where the day after you have given thanks for all you have, and pray for those less fortunate, you get to be totally materialistic and greedy x"
Interestingly, hubby's cousin who lives in the US replied that she'd "nailed it."

Guess that depends on your perception of "Greed" and a rampant consumer culture . (Am secretly rather proud of her alternative stance .)

I take your point. There's a lot to be said for 'telling it like it is'
