I freeze even 1 portion left overs. Good for when you are at home alone, or after while you get 2 of the same meal, or sometimes we will even each have differen meal...
Now I just wish I had more freezing space and do real batch cooking! And special offers shopping..
All confidence comes from experience.
Food doesn't go off or unsafe in the freezer... so don't be affraid and just try it and see what works for you!
(Oh I adore prawns. Proper prawns properly cooked though. Not the pre-cooked stuff from cold fridge in the supermarket. The taste is completely different. But everyone likes something else!)0 -
I've got a piece of paper (A4 size) on my freezer where I write what I've put in there. I try to keep similar things in the same drawer etc. I do forget to write on the list, mind :rotfl:
If I use plastic tubs, I write what's in them on a bit of masking tape. Easy to peel off after use0 -

Quick question from a forum (and batch cooking) newbie....
I freeze raw meat after I've just bought it - if I them defrost the meat (chicken, for example) and make a batch of stew, can I then freeze the stew, given that the chicken in it has already been frozen (albeit this time it will be cooked other that raw)?
Thanks0 -

Yes.
I (and a lot of others on here) do this all the time. The cooking also cooks any possible bugs and "resets the freezing clock" so to speak. Just make sure that it's cooked and then reheated thoroughly. Which you ought to do anyway. If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

I agree with using foil dishes for storing your batch cooking results in, saves on the washing up as well. I am doing Bolognese sauce today and freezing it in batches, it should be ok for up to 3 months but it never gets left that long! I am already drooling at the thought of enjoying spaghetti Bolognese over Christmas with a glass of red wine and watching something good on the box such as Downtown or Open All Hours. When everyone is sick of turkey this is when your home cooked meals in the freezer come into their own.0
