Hi all,
My mum turns 60 at the end of Jan and we have left it late to plan a surprize birthday party which is what she hinted a few months back that she wanted.
We don't have massive funds to put on something mega and want to keep the budget low if we can and is why I am on here asking for ideas.
The Venue we have managed to get for free which has a bar and holds up to 80 people which is part of a local sports club as we are looking to invite around 60 to 80 people.
The biggest problem we have is music for the night. I have emailed a few mobile disco's we have used in the pass and they quoting around £150 to £250 for the night. In total I got around 15 quotes and they all seem around this price.
Another is the food for people
Invites I am going to design on a 6 x 4 photo as I have 50 free prints on snapfish then 8p per print after
Cheers

As far as food is concerned perhaps you could ask most of the guests to bring along the food- say a dessert or a couple of salads or a cold joint-ie one item each. Keep a list of who is bringing what and then add items that are in short supply.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Thanks for the tips so far.
We have now got the venue for free,
Invites created myself and printed using free credits I have on snapfish and photobox on 6 x 4 size photo paper.
For the music we got in contact with a local company who rent stage equipment and they can supply me a 1000w speaker system with a few lights for £50 for the day which we can connect a laptop and ipod to.
