To be honest, Natwest was my first port of call as it's my bank, and HSBC were recommended to me by a colleague who had recently mortgaged with them.

I'm far from an expert with any of this, but have done some internet research which suggested that with the information I input, the deals available seem very similar between the main lenders.

I've just read another of your posts which suggests that a local broker would potentially get involved in the whole buying process, and that's something I think I'd benefit from. I've no issues paying a fee for someone to manage the application for me, but I guess as you suggested previously, the fee is for the advice, it's not for the management of the application and dealing with surveyors, solicitors etc...

What I said was, we don't get paid for doing that, but it is part and parcel of the job for many.

The bigger volume players may try not to get involved, but for us it's the added value that gets us the work.

If you want to deal with someone face-to-face, who will advise and recommend based on your circumstances, look after the application and manage the homebuying process, find yourself a local whole market broker. In this context, that means whole market for commission paying products. You might have to pay a fee on top, depending on the size of the case.
