Government gives in to energy suppliers
Comments

Actually, there are several so-called independent energy suppliers who appear to offer much better deals. One of them appeared on the Select Committee TV show, and said that his company was currently buying energy at a lower price than several years ago.
For some reason, neither the Select Committee nor the meedja has taken any interest at all.
Why are these companies described as 'independent'? In what way are the Big6 not 'independent'? Why has D.Cameron not been recommending these independents in his Parliamentary statements?

So why was/is this not headline news?
To me it seems to open up a very interesting debate - have the small chappies had anything to say about the rolling hills of green taxes?
I really wish I could understand what is going on here.

So much complaining and yet no sign of anyone on here launching their own company to reap a share of the huge profits that the existing companies are making.
I wonder who would supply us if we did and what rate they would want to charge us?"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Do NPower generate? What is being reverse charged into the parent?
They should have thought of the investment costs before entering the market. It isn't like we have just ha a Fukushima incident they have known the need for investment for decades.
Will renewables ever be a creditable, cost affordable, solution for reliable , resiliant bulk supply?"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Ssh let the other suckers use their gas supplies up first, then we can command a higher price. Cracking idea shutting them when we did."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

there is nothing to stop anyone with a large fortune from re-opening a coal mine, as long as they doesn't mind having a small fortune in a year or two.EU tariff on agricultual product 12.2%

much the same is said about windmills and waves/tides
and those frenchies were pretty reluctant to commit to providing us with cheap nuclear
the only source of energy which seems to have any kind of enthusiastic support is fracking

Yer, I complain about oil prices. I do astonish myself sometimes and wonder why I bother complaining when I can simply go out, explore, drill, and refine my own.
I mean, what could possibly stop me?0 -

The government like fracking because of the revenue they can take off it. The prospectors like it because they can cream a fat profit off it selling on to the highest bidder when they decide to.
Cost of extraction yet to be established but providing it is there they can wait until the time is right. They will be long gone and liquidated if necessary, before the long term environmental effects are known.
Expecting cheap fuel is naive as that new nuclear stuff can't be undercut."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
