Its non of the gas mans business. He does not dictate Energy company policy or Meter asset manager policy.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Yes, We do have readings from last year.

The Meter was meant to be fixed last friday (a week after we reported it) but they never turned up.

Am i obliged to tell them that they never turned up?

We are annoyed due to the fact we had to finish work early :-(
Phone them and ask for another appointment and remind them they now owe you £20. It is in your interests to get it sorted as soon as possible.

No but from a legal POV he has to tell them it's broke and it is not company policy - he knows (as a Gas Man) that E.On have no right to charge me for something they do not own. He also was better placed to inform me and argue (with my permission) the case.

As he pointed out (and i was unaware) the gas company have a legal obligation until the exit of the gas meter. Therefore they are mandated to fix the fault (under health and safety) at no cost to the household. As it is Transco (I believe) that own the item THEY have to fix it, E.On are not allowed to charge me. It has NOTHING to do with Eon the policy is mandated by Transco etc and NOT e.on.

Also the standing charge i pay every month (Which has been higher than my actual usage on a handful of occasions) is designed to cover these sorts of costs. Therefore i have already paid for the maintenance (i am essentialy paying a maintenance contract to E.On).

Why does an RGI doing a gas safety cert have to report a broken meter? It's not a safety issue unless it's leaking or physically damaged. It's simply not recording usage. The body responsible are the metering company.

Transco dont exist and havent done for years. Anyone could own that meter..though i do agree, iif it is faulty it should be replaced and there is no reason why the RGI cant ring on your behalf with the necessary permissions, from your home whilst you are there. He should limit his report to indicating the fault with the meter.
