Been here for many moons now & due to lurching from one crisis to another have seem to have got absolutely nowhere. However - that has to change as DH may be getting made redundant next year.
We're both virtually frozen with fear but he is so worried he's struggling to sleep, concentrate or even speak at times - and the joys of our generation - he feels he should be the main providor even though I do have a reasonably good f/t job.

So - for the time being the "coping mantle" seems to have fallen on my shoulders.

So today - I need to gird my loins and tackle the budget. DH seems to have no idea where all the money goes so I will need to draw up 3 budgets - a current one, a "what it will reduce to when we cut out unnecessary stuff" and a final "worst case scanario" one so that he can see that even being made redundant and getting a much lower paid job that we can keep the house (he's a pessimist and already sees us as homeless)

And the house needs cleaned - so today will be a fun day :p, however, is does mean that we can start the week with a clear mind .....

So plans for today are:-
  • clean a room, then do a bit of budget work, clean another room, more budget work - you get the idea.
  • heating's not going on - will set the fire for tonight though so we're not going to freeze. I'll keep warm during the day by working and having the dog sit on my knee when I'm at the laptop.
  • clothes are all on the clothes horse rather than being tumble dried.
  • tea is in and I refuse to go shopping today but DH is buying an ironing table as he broke ours when helping by doing the ironing last week (no, I have no idea how he managed that either) but have you seen the price of ironing boards
  • listening to local radio station to see if I can win prizes for Christmas pressies
  • need to make up Christmas list as DH is also getting stressed over this
I'll not be posting the budget on-line at the moment as it is a bit shameful but December will be the month for planning what we can do going forward - how to clear the outstanding debt and get some money behind us.

So - must go now as the conservatory floor is calling.

  • Welcome ClootiesMum. Sorry to hear about the possible redundancy but you sound like you've really got a good handle on things already with your 3 budgets idea :T I've found keeping my little diary on here has helped me more than I could have possibly imagined. Even if it's just being able to offload and rant to the world anonymously :rotfl: Good luck with it all :)
