No Sound and wrong Video setting after re-install

Got rid of G/Fs slow lappy and now got a Packard Bell which had a clean install of XP.

So far so good but there is no sound and the display isn't right as the monitor is a 4:3 but PC thinks it should be a W/S (I think)

Searched for well over an hour but cannot find the drivers anywhere.

Can some kind soul point me in the right direction - PLEASE!!

Do a windows update and see if it installs the correct drivers for the sound and video.

You need to change the language / location settings also. Unless they are in the US and not the UK.

Stick another GB of RAM in there also. It will be sluggish with only 1GB.

    Thanks

I don't have the XP disk to update it with.

I have changed setting to UK (Hopefully) now.

I do plan to give her a bit more Ram

And despite going to Control Pane/regional, languages and deleting English USA it still shows

I think that perhaps that cannot be changed as I think it should have been done on installation. - Just a theory. :)

I had a similar problem on an old PC running XP with the sound.

I downloaded the Realtek audio drivers the AC97 ones and the problem was solved, apparently a lot of old motherboards used this software. However it has been a while since I did this.

First thing I would do as suggested is use windows update first though.
