Avent steriliser reduced to £10

In my local Sainsburys they have Avent Steam sterilisers ( express ) reduced from £39.99 to £10 . It wasn't a managers special as had proper reduced labels on the shelf. Hopefully will be nationwide

Also they have
compactbag.jpg This insulated bag reduced from £10 to £2.50 and they also had avent bottles also reduced by 75% It was a box of a few but I can't quite remember how many or how much. Worth a look if you have just had a baby or expecting.

I also spotted boxes of Olay clarifying face wipes reduced to 95p from £3.99.. Quite a few reductions right round the beauty and baby dept

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Right! I'm off to my local Sainsburys after work tomorrow to check it out....

This is pretty much irrelevant to the OP but as people who are doing what we have just done in the past couple of years will be reading this then I think it's worth posting our experience :-)

We found when we had our first kids that the Avent bottles were far better than Tommee Tippee but the teats were nowhere as good. So we used TT teats with Avent bottles.

With our son we found, when trying to get him off the breast, that he would use neither the Avent or old TT teats. We then found that Tommee Tippee have changed their design for a bigger wider softer teat/bottle design. We tried that and bingo he soon found bottle was a lot less effort than breast. After a couple of weeks he would use any bottle/teat we tried. So I would say Avent are very good quality but TT always seem to have the best teat design.

Like I say not hugely relevant to the original post but worth pondering if you are wandering the bottle feeding minefield.

I agree Avent all the way for me, I used them for both of my children who are 4years apart. With Tommee Tippee teats and cups the child has to bite the teat/spout and suck which is an un-natural way of drinking.A friend had trouble trying to wean off of these and put that down to being the reason.

Were they the Variflo TT teats? We tried them and found our girls just couldn't get on with them. The standard TT teats were the most successful though.

With our son the Closer to Nature bottles and teats were the only ones he would use at first. The lids are bloody stupid though, practically impossible to get a grip on and remove with wet hands. IIRC the older TT bottle lids were a nightmare as well.

  • I'd highly recommend the Dr Browns bottles which have the "straw thing" in to reduce wind, they work brilliantly. Our son has very little wind at the end of his feed :)

I'm not sure now I tried several different teats (he's nearly 2 and off the bottle) I've never had a problem with my 2 bringing up wind, i gave bith to piglets not humans! :D
