That's a bit rough
hopefully it won't mean the end of things x
I really wanted to post just to say I have been here for years but never posted an SOA. when I started I was about 25,000 in debt and paid it off in 2011, at the start of this year I borrowed a further 7,000 and am currently 4,643.22 in debt.
It can be done.
make the plan and stick to the plan.
good luck with it all

Sorry to hear about you and your gf non compos :kisses3: sometimes a break is good - It makes you realize what you have and what you are missing, I hope that is the case for you and your gf, However - try not to let it get you down and depressed so that you go out and emotionally spend, but rather see it as an opportunity to work even harder on yourself, your debts and your life and show her exactly what she will be missing!

Hi Buffy and Domayne,
After a night of totally disturbed sleep, I am have woken up thinking: whatever is meant to happen, will happen. I am just going to focus on things that I can control like debt busting.
I am counting down days to pay day, only 2 more weeks but the next one will be 6 weeks away!

That's a good thing to focus on - Things that are within your control!
If you need to rant though, there are supportive people here who will always listen!
It's funny how when we get on this debt busting we spend the days wishing for payday isn't it? At the same time, we shouldn't be wishing our lives away - It already goes too fast as it is!! :rotfl:Saved so far - £28,890.97

Sorry to hear about things with your gf, hopefully it'll work out for you.
With regards to the debt-busting, you sound like you've got a great plan in place! Good luck

Domayne - tell me about time flying, I have absolutely no idea where the last 5 years have gone. Nonetheless Dec payday can't come soon enough, the income and expenses this month are huge! Annual trvaelcard will set me back £3k!:(
Jude - thank you. Just need to make sure I stick to the good plans that I always seem to be making

lol same here! The last 2 years especially have just flown by and I haven't done anything with my life - I'll be 30 this year and having a bit of a  crisis! Think that's why I'm so hard on myself at the moment because I want to have no debt and be making some sort of savings and not waste the next 10 years of my life!! lol
As for the travelcard - wow thats a lot! but paying yearly surely saves you quite a bit over the year?? I was thinking of doing the yearly tc as it would save me around £200 but I don't have the £1,424 that it costs :rotfl:Saved so far - £28,890.97

The Big 3-0 is also the main target for me, I really don't want to have any debt when I turn 30! It will be a very hard slog but hopefully worth it.
LOL! Do you think I have £3k lying around? I am fortunate enough to get a half decent bonus which I will use toward the season ticket. I was initially going to use it to pay down the debt but given the fact that my debt is either on 0% or 6.9%, it just doesn't make sense.
I would save c£700 by getting an annual travelcard (because you get 12 weeks for free plus I am saving on the 5% fare increase) compared to an additional £100 of interest on the 6.9% card (by not paying the £3k lump sum but paying £250pm over the course of the next 12 months). A saving of c£600 just swung it for me!
Maybe I will use for another holiday, just kidding!0 -
It will definitely be worth it if we can stick to it!! 30 and debt free - How amazing is that??
Do you think it will be worth it to take out a 0% cc to pay for a yearly ticket? I know I'll be adding to my debt, but in the long run I will be saving?
Nothing wrong with a holiday though...as long as it's budgeted for! :rotfl:
I'm supposed to go on 3 next year! Thinking I might ditch the first one though as the person who I'm supposed to be going with is an old school friend who I had a huge falling out with in 2004 and only recently started talking too again this year and I'd only met up with her twice when she invited me on holiday
She acts like the 10 years didn't happen and idk...a lot has happened and I feel kinda awkward with her tbh

If I can be debt free by 30, that would be super amazing! Then I can worry about something as trivial as getting a mortgage! Who rakes up £45k (at the peak) worth of debt by 27 and have nothing to show for it?
With regards to 0% cc, there are two schools of thoughts which (rather helpfully!!!) give different views. The first one says, yes you should cause you are saving money. However, you should only get it if you are going to be disciplined enough to pay the equivalent amount on a monthly basis and will clear it within the 0% period. Additionally, you will not use it to rake up more debt. Second one says, you should save for everything and no to CC. I subscribe to the first school of thought (maybe thats why I have so much debt).
If you have access to 0% cards, have you balance transferred your existing debt to ensure you are not paying any interest?
With regards to holiday, only you can decide whether its worth going on holiday with this friend. Is it someone who is dear enough and worth patching things up with, if it is then might be a good opportunity to spend time together.
I am not debt busting the conventional way, for example, I am going to learn how to drive in the new year. Whilst my lessons will primarily be paid for from my spending money, some people may argue that I am not serious about debt busting. So I am probably not the best person to give debt busting / money saving advice!0
