Applying Online For State Pension

In a few days time I shall be eligible to apply for my state pension when it will be due to be paid in 4 months time. I'm making sure I have all the necessary information they'll require to hand.

I notice that if you use the downloadable form it includes instructions to enclose your original marriage certificate when submitting it.

I would prefer to apply online but I can't find any reference in the 'what information you will need to have ready' to the marriage certificate.

Can anyone who has used the online application process tell me whether they ask you to post the certificate during the online process or do they write to you after they process your application with a request for you to send it to them?

It is easier to do it over the phone? https://www.gov.uk/state-pension/how-to-claim

Just have all your details available by your side - NI number, date of marriage etc- relative tells me that he did it all within about 20 minutes last year.

Don't forget that if you want your pension paid weekly, you must specifically request this.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm definitely coming round to thinking that phone is the best option since I may need to seek clarification on a couple of points. Also it's a Freephone number, so very MSE. :money:
