Agency holiday pay

Wonder if anyone can advise. I currently work for an agency (35 hours a week) am on PAYE, their holiday year runs Jan-Dec so am I right in thinking that I would need to use all holiday by the 31st December thus losing out as 1st Jan is a bank holiday (where I work is closed...not that I plan to be in a state to work then!) Agency says you cannot carry over.

You do have to use them or lose them. If you are on a long term placement then you should be able to take Jan 1st from next years entitlement.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Yes you need to use them by the 31st, and you need to contact the agency to formally book the entitlement not assume they will automatically sort it out for you.
You will only be able to book the 1st from next years entitlement if you have been employed by them for more than 12 months: before 12 months they only have to let you book what you have accrued ad you go along."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." I'm not disagreeing with you but how would you go on if you started work on the 2nd January ?0 -

This is what I am worried and annoyed about. I thought with agencies you have to earn the pay before you take it so on 1st Jan I will not have earned anything.... although this job is due to last til February I don't think they allow it to be taken before."It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice." :T0 -
Have you talked to the agency to ask whether they would roll it over for one day? This happened to me a couple of years ago, when Easter landed on the end of the fiscal year, and the agency permitted us to do this.0

You could ask to use 1 day on the 1st, but it is not something they have to agree to. However if the company that you are working for does not want you to take any holidays between now and Christmas it would make sense for the agency to authorize that.
We changed our holiday year to coincide with the tax year in April because this situation cause problems for us each year."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." I have worked for Reed and they allowed me to take 1st Jan from the prior years holiday allowance, but that was the only carry over allowed.:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0
