Tipping

Is it normal to tip the venue? We are having our reception in a hotel and they are doing all the decorating/buffet and so forth for us and we run from about 6pm through until 1am. We were pondering over how much we should give them.
Any advice gratefully received.

Who are you thinking of tipping? I personally wouldn't tip the hotel per say but would tip the waitresses, bar staff, receptionist etc and leave a tip for the kitchen staff too. That way I know everyone who had a part got something. When I worked in a hotel anything that wasn't given to us personally was swallowed up by the hotel owner. And the amount depends on how generous you feel. Around £10 per person is average I think but it depends on what you can afford. Something is better than nothing xxxDebt free finally :j

We're tipping the staff, but make sure that the hotel policy is that staff get all the tips, not the hotel!0
