PPI claim - over 6 years after bankruptcy

Earlier this year my partner received a letter from a bank he had a loan with prior to his bankruptcy in Dec 2006. He completed the questionnaire and was told that he was eligible for a refund. Approx 1month later he had another letter giving him an amount and advising that a cheque would be sent out within the next 28 days. After over a month he still had not received this so decided to give them a call. They advised that the cheque had been sent and should have been received by now. They cancelled that cheque and told him they would send another. This also did not arrive. Afteranother phone call today he has been told that the money had gone to the reveiver. I just wondered if this was normal practice as his period of bankruptcy ended nearly a year ago so technically there should be no record of this on his credit file. Could anyone enlighten me ??

Like most people, I was badgered to death by PPI claim companies, mostly on my mobile. However, after BR this summer - the calls have dried up completely...not a peep from any of them for over 2 months now. Well they say there is a silver lining in every cloud :rotfl:
  • Lucky you lol - I STILL get calls about PPI despite going BR three years ago. They are mostly automated calls now but at the start I had some lovely conversations with young 'representatives' who simply couldn't understand, even after a full explanation, why I did not want to claim. I think the 'script' focused on the promise of 'free money' and young salesmen with no life experience thought everyone would jump at the chance.

It quite took me back to the 80s and that Wall Street movie - 'greed is good' - I laughed at that phrase then too...
  • Maybe my OR has done the PPI for me? I'm sticking with my credit union account forever now. Real ethical banking (well as ethical as banking can get anyways) ;)
