Paid salary - wages docked for dentist appointment?

My employers will only pay for hospital appointments if there is no chance of you arranging them outside work hours. For example, if the hospital consultant only does consulting on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and you work these, they will pay you.

Or you have waited several months for an appointment. I had to wait 3 months for an appointment and tried to rearrange it and it was another 10 weeks after that initial appointment! My employer understood I did not want to wait 5.5 months for an appointment.

Normal GP and dental appointments - nope. But many of us try to get appointments where we only half an hour late or leave half an hour earlier.

Thanks for your message scarlet. Normally I would schedule my apts conveniently but my dentist is 15miles away, it was an emergency apt (due to pain) and was the only time they had available.
