I will try to keep this short.
Myself and my husband are currently going through the mortgage process with the halifax (through a broker). We have had a few delays due to documents not showing up correctly on the Halifax side so we are now into our 4th week in the process. Our valuation was instructed Last Tues (19th) but we are still waiting for a date for this. The waiting game has been stressful but we were happy to wait BUT we got a letter from our solicitor with a contract from Baratts and a completion date of the 9th Dec. We do have a mortgage offer pending valuation but we don't want to be sending our deposit money until we are sure our mortgage is in place. Anyone have any advice? Our broker has emailed someone this morning to hurry them along but we have heard nothing back as of yet and we are now starting to worry about what will happen if we are not in the position to complete on the 9th.

I think all you can do is push the broker/lender to get a full mortgage offer and valuation.
Ofcourse it is not wise to exchange contract until your solicitor has received mortgage offer after valuation. I will never take this risk. I will back off if vendor does not understand your situation.0 -
Your solicitor won't exchange contracts unless a mortgage offer is in place.0
