Please help me or guide me... A year ago my dad took out a personal loan with BPF to purchase a car for me as i couldnt get credit for myself, a year into the loan agreement, my dad has passed away - the car is not linked to the car and the car is in my name... what do i do?
My dad died leaving no will or estate, just £150 in his bank, he was on benefits for over 8 years and my mum hasnt a penny to her name as she was a full time carer to him, i dont want any heartache for my mum..
Any advice would be greatly recieved

Sorry for your loss.
Presumably, you were making the payments for the loan as Dad was on benefit.
If Dad had no assets when he passed away, then the loan debt died with him. If he had assets (ie house, car, etc) then the loan needs to be settled out of those when probate is granted."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
I think the car will be classed as an asset, it's more than likely the value of the car is lower then the loan amount outstanding. In this case it might be worth discussing with Barcleys if they are willing to transfer the loan to you and you carry on payments. Explain that this way they will get the money paid.
In most cases it's not wise to pay a deceased persons debt if you don't have to but this might be a different case.
