Womens Cycling shorts

A question for the ladies..
I do spinning 3 times a week, but recently feel quite unconfortable on the saddle (sometimes I can't handle being seated and need to stand up).. I normally wear underwear and normal shorts (non-padded). I own a pair of MuddyFox padded ones that I wear ocasionally but can't feel much difference and they are really bulky..
Looking online I've found lots of cycling underwear, and also more expensive padded shorts.. do they make a difference? Is it worth investing on a good ones?
Thanks!

I have an expensive pair of padded cycle shorts and some less expensive from Aldi. Can't say there's any difference in the amount of comfort or fit.
Yes, it is rather like walking in a nappy but it depends how much comfort matters:)0
