Everyday loans have family numbers

Hi again

When I took a loan out with Everyday Loans one of the forms I had to fill out was a form to list contact numbers.

Rather foolishly (in desperation) I gave a few of my family's phone numbers thinking I would be able to pay the loan and there would be no need for them to phone any of my family.

Now im on a DMP im starting to worry that from tomorrow I and my family will be getting calls from them as I don't have any money this week to pay them. I am in the process of arranging token payments for them (see my other post), but this will have to start in two weeks time!

Is this normal practice? Can I request them to remove all other phone numbers bar my mobile and home numbers.

Thanks

  • Email or write to them telling them to remove the numbers

What does the agreement say about this, as talking to family members etc usually breaks the data protection act.

They may break OFT guidelines also.

  • Thanks for your reply.

I was alarmed when i saw the form but didn't think much about it as i needed money at the time. I just know if i miss a call they will start ringing around. I missed a payment once, within hours they were ringing me.........

I think i will draw a letter up and see there response as i really dont see any reason for them to have the numbers.

I will post their response up here!

  • And i cant see anything in the agreement which mentions phone numbers as such. Im guessing they may have pulled a fast one in case i default on my loan to put pressure on me.

  • Good plan.

Remind them of their data protection obligations and OFT debt collection guidelines. Don't need details.

  • Will do this then and hopefully get them wiped *Fingers crossed*

    Thanks again
