Should I be paying Council Tax

Hello,
I've lived in my rented property for 3 and a half years now and am wondering if there's any chance I should either a) reclaim some council tax OR b) be actually paying it at all?
I live in an annex on the side of a bungalow where my land lady lives. There is an adjoining internal door between the two properties so technically we can walk through into each others living space although there is a bolt on my side which I keep locked. I dont have my own wheelie bin, I use theirs and I dont have control on the heating or hot water as the boiler is on their side of the house and if their out, I go cold. My shower is in my bedroom as it was a holiday let and our electric is on a £ meter into which I put £ coins so there is no billing. I am more then happy there as the rent is cheap and includes water as there is no other way to split it but am just wondering what my options maybe??

If you have your own kitchen, facilities for washing and your own WC, then you have what is called for CT purposes a separate dwelling. This will have its own CT band and as occupier you are responsible for paying the CT bill.
If there is no other adult living in the annex with you, you are entitled to 25% single person discount. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
