How true is it that Baliffs cannot make a payment plan without coming in?

I am on about none magistrate court bailiffs,
If you do not let them in what happens? Does it go back to the creditor/court and then what?
If they will not accept a payment arrangement with you and you cannot pay more and you do not let them in then what happens then?

Not true at all. Not even a little bit.

If you allow them in once, I seem to recall that means they can later force entry (or is that only court-appointed bailiffs?)

Either way, I wouldn't let them in.

Basically, they collect money by being unpleasant and hassling you.

If you let them in once then they can come back in whenever they want, so they will say anything to make you let them in the first time. You have the right to refuse.

When my ex owed council tax the bailiff was really nice and told me not to invite him in - if I did he said he would have to take an inventory of everything there.

If that does happen and if like in our case everything there apart from his clothes belonged to me the owner of the items can swear a stat dec about them.

I think there are rules like if the door is open, too, so longer term, you need to make arrangements to pay the debt, I think, or dispute it properly.

Hello there, if you have a magistrates' court bailiff chasing you for an unpaid fine it can be tricky to get them to agree to an instalment arrangement. But it's not impossible.

Bailiffs chasing unpaid fines may have the power to force entry. In reality this power is rarely exercised, a bailiff would only be able to do this in certain circumstances.

Bailiffs chasing other debts (such as council tax arrears, credit debts etc.) would need to gain entry peacefully.

If you can give us a little more background we can help you try and get this sorted.
