    This truly horrific, and I hope you get it sorted. As others have said above, the position you should ensure you get from your employer is for the pension to be made whole.

    It might also be worth checking with your colleagues to see if anyone else is in the same position- hopefully it's a one-off, and not a systematic error, but worth checking.

    The standard remedy for cases like this is to put you in the position you would have been in if the mistake hadn't happened. Which means your payments going into the correct pension(s) for the times when they were deducted from pay. Your employer may have to pay more into the pension scheme to get you those benefits now but that's their problem, not yours - they got it wrong, they get to pay the price.

    We don't know how large the Company you work for is? But whatever you do make sure the top person in the Company is made aware. Any correspondence you send should be cc'd to the Chairman and/or Chief Executive of the Company. They should be advised that a major Problem has arisen with their Pension scheme.
