virgin media multiroom

Hi there!

Just wondered if anyone had any experience of virgin media's multiroom or the install?
We are with virgin media currently and have just had an extension completed and wanted another box put into this new extension.
From a phone call today it looks like a £50 install charge and either £6.50 per month for a box that doesn't record or £11.50 per month for a Tivo box that does (we already have a Tivo box in the front room). Seemed a little bit steeper than I thought it was going to be but there goes!
Anyway, if I were to go ahead with the install what would disruption to decor etc in the new room be like - bear in mind this is a completely new, decorated room.
I phoned Virgin today and they said I would have to arrange an install and then talk to the engineer who came out to see if I was happy with they way they were going to do it - not great if you have already paid the install fee and find out they are going to wreck your new room!

Thanks for your help!

£50 install sounds cheap, thought it was normally £99.

Anytime I've had a virgin engineer out to do something they've always been very helpful. Cables tend to be snug in the corner where appropriate and an holes drilled are neat and sealed off.

What they have done in the past is run a cable round the outside of the house rather than inside.

My experience with them mirrors your own. I don't find the installation price expensive either and I think £11.50 a month for the TiVo with all the Virgin facilities reasonable too. It's a tenner a month from Sky for the same thing and I don't think their service or facilities are as good. That's just from personal experience.

I can tell you now though: if I could get Virgin media in this area I'd have it in before you could say "TiVo". Best service I ever had. :)

Tivo is just wonderful, especially for someone like me who doesn't watch a lot of TV, but when I do I like to watch it in my own time rather than to a schedule.

    Thanks for the replies!
I too love Tivo and especially the capacity of the harddrive compared to the old V+ boxes.
Very easy to use when you learn all the features.
Thanks for a reality check with the monthly price too!
Looks like from what you are both saying that the install will be a tidy job so will probably go ahead with it.
